this evening the church tower, other side from the clock, in the golden hour, with another wave of storm coming up behind. Today has been wet and windy with several storms.
The figures on the church are the four angels named in the Bible, although some are in apocryphal books - Gabriel, Uriel, Raphael and Michael and four saints - St Alban, first British martyr, St Augustine, first Archbishop of Canterbury, St Theodore, who is probably another Archbishop of Canterbury and Archbishop Laud. The two in view are Gabriel and St Theodore - round to the left is Uriel and round to the right is Augustine.
The birds are jackdaws gathering.
Thursday 14 August
The setting sun is always kind to sandstone buildings and here it has lent a lovely mellow colour to this beautiful tower. Nicely observed and captured Shanne.
