Making dream catchers

This is partly for the Flash of Red February, textures and patterns and partly for this week's Get Pushed challenge and is showing various bits and pieces for making dream catchers - feathers, willow rings, embroidery thread. It also fits the technique challenge of combined knowledge combining black and white, close up and Vaseline blur.

For Get Pushed this week my partner @kali challenged me to:
how about some deliberate blur this week , or a soft focus photo of some kind, you could shoot through some stocking material stretched over the lens, or smear a ring of vaseline on some plastic to hold over the lens as a diy filter to achieve the effect. .
with a website to find more ideas - here
This is achieved by sort of following the instructions to produce a blur using a plastic film and Vaseline - except I didn't have any Vaseline, so used cocoa butter. I did try using frayed fabric but that didn't work. Extra added challenge from using a compact camera.

Three good things:
1. The gluten free bread tastes OK, hasn't risen, so the texture isn't so good, but it's worth trying that recipe again but using my usual techniques to get the yeast rising.
2. Guides tonight enjoyed making macrame nets to catch balloons;
3. Experiments in dying fabrics today worked

Thank you for looking and your amazing comments, you're all brilliant. I try to thank you here, rather than individually on the thread, and spend time looking at your pictures.
@kali66 - this is an attempt at your Get Pushed challenge

I like the mystery here... and it definitely needs to be viewed on black.

Looks very mysterious and, I guess, the best thing for a cool b&w shot.

I too like the mysterious atmosphere of this

I was wondering how you achieved the blur on this picture. Cocoa butter smells better than vaseline! LOL!

This turned out beautifully!

it seems to me that the harder i stare at it there is the possibility that something will jump out; and that's exactly what i did as i couldn't yet see the dream catcher! i'm rather slow on the uptake these days. :-)

@summerfield no dream catcher at that stage - willow ring, pile of feathers, embroidery silks, scissors - it's still not finished, I just checked I knew how to make them.

You do such nice creative things. Macramé, having done that for years! And dream catcher, I'm going to make these with the children, I know my daughter of 5 will definitely love to make them.
