Like us, our neighbours' garden includes mature oaks, between 150 and 200 years old. This tree had branches in poor condition overhanging the Lane, and so tree surgeons were brought in for some major pruning. I considered asking for the branches to log for our woodburner, but oak takes 3 years to be seasoned enough to burn well, and is exceedingly hard work to cut, even with a chain saw. Neatly cut logs delivered on a trailer are much more convenient.
