Queens Building by shepherdman

Queens Building

Part of De Montfort University in Leicester, this Building was opened in 1993, and was designed to minimise energy use. With 1000 students, and a lot of computer equipment, cooling, rather than heating, is the potential drain on energy. The building uses the same principles as a bee hive, with tall stacks drawing cool air up through the building. My son studied in the building, and so I have toured the interior, which is equally impressive. Elevated walkways traverse large open spaces at all levels .People either love or hate this contemporary design. I cycle past it on most days, and I love it.
It certainly looks interesting. Doesn't look all that modern either. I like the plant and the pink sign.
