This cycle and walking route is the Great Central Way, part of National Cycle Route 6, which links London with the Lake District in the north west of England. The National Cycle routes use a combination of quiet roads, canal tow paths, and, as in this case, surfaced disused railways. This stretch runs from south Leicestershire into the heart of Leicester, and is part of my cycle commute into work.
