Braunstone Park

The sun has set, with the final rays illuminating the tree tops in Braunstone Park, Leicester. This large park, a mixture of rural areas, landscaping, and recreational areas, was originally the parkland surrounding the Georgian Braunstone Hall, with the rural village of Braunstone at the southern edge. During the 1920s the village was swallowed up by the expanding city of Leicester, with both the park and village becoming surrounded by the Braunstone Estate, a large housing estate of mostly Local Authority social housing. The village still exists, and the park is now one of the largest public green spaces in the City
