The thaw is almost complete – just a few patches of snow left, and pieces of ice at the edge of the river, particularly after a frosty night, even if the days are slightly warmer. This cattle trough is a regular “watering hole” for the dogs on one of our regular walks. For the last few days they stopped to lick the ice, like a giant iced lollipop, but have had to wait until they got home for a proper drink
