This pond, near Ilkley in Yorkshire, is a mill pond, originally serving a textile mill. The water would not have driven the machinery, since this would originally have been steam driven. The water would be have been used for the steam boiler and for the dynein and finishing process. As far as I know the mill is no longer in production.
