With the onset of warm weather (at last!) I am walking the dogs much later, when the local footpaths are quiet, it is cooler for the dogs, and I can enjoy the sunset. On the outward leg of our walk I was surrounded by swooping swallows, dodging past my head and weaving through tree branches as they hunt for insects. I have tried to photograph these birds – no chance. My reactions are just not quick enough. On the return journey along this route it is often bats that are flitting around my head, no doubt in search of the same prey.
