I tried to follow the footpath across this field this morning, but had to turn back as water got perilously close to the top of my wellies. An alternative route along the bottom of a field behind our home was worse. Thanks to crops and long grass, I couldn’t judge the depth of water. I tool an ill-advised step, and water poured over the top of my welly. Oh well, once I had wet feet, there was no point in being slow and careful any more, and my rate of progress improved. The dogs, of course, thought it was all great fun.
