Rounding Off The Harvest by shepherdman

Rounding Off The Harvest

Every year at this time our big brave German Shepherd dog walks through the gate into the field at the back, and stops in her tracks. Some big fierce animals appear to have taken over the field since she was last on patrol along the footpath. With a bit of a growl and a lot of woofing she charges at the nearest creature, in an attempt to see it off, before returning abashed and embarrassed having realised that once again she has been made a fool of by a round bale if straw. She totally ignores the bales during future walks before the bales are collected, but no doubt the altercation will be repeated next year.
How funny! I can understand her confusion at their sudden appearance. We have large rectangular bales at the moment. Haven't had the round ones for quite a while. Probably something to do with the length of the straw?
