Apparently this fearsome beast is a common or garden spider, which makes sense, as it was in our garden. It has decided move upmarket, leaving the lawn and flower beds for the sophistication of our new patio. I would have thought that the flower beds, all in need of some care and attention, would have been like a banqueting hall for the average spider, although this one appears to have found some lunch in it's new home.
There are hundreds of these around at the moment, one has recently built a web in my kitchen and because I like spiders I haven't had the heart to move him :) Great detail in this, love how the light has caught the web... Illuminating it!
Nice shot. I have one in my conservatory and it has built a new web every day for four days, every one on a different wall! (It was my photo for yesterday!)
