A view across the valley as the warmth from the sun cleared the earlier mist. In the first two hours of the day we equipped each of 120competitors with a harness and helmet before sending them to the professional instructors who would encourage them up a rock face, before sending them over the edge to abseil back to the bottom. Many competitors were understandably apprehensive, but returned with huge grins once the challenge had been successfully completed, as they headed off to the next challenge. It was a busy, but rewarding, day, and I enjoyed every minute. In a lull between teams I even abseiled down the cliff – something I haven’t done for many years
