After a wet summer, when the fields never really dried out, a dry early autumn has allowed an uninterrupted harvest, field cultivation, and drilling of seeds. The field immediately behind our home already has a green sheen as the seeds germinate. Over the last few days rain has returned and the fields close to the river are once again sodden. I think that it will be a while before this field sees new growth.
