Huncote Hash by shepherdman

Huncote Hash

It was, as expected, a particularly muddy Huncote Hash run this year, especially traumatic for those more used to being all at sea. As I type the final runners are no doubt slipping and sliding along the field tracks for the last couple of miles to the finish. The race is over 10km (6.5 miles) and by the time that the competitors run past our house they have just run up and down Croft Hill, and some are looking the worst for wear. It takes almost an hour for the runners to pass – starting with the serious competitors strung out at the front, then big groups of runners, and finally the stragglers. Those in fancy dress are generally towards the back, but seem to be enjoying the event much more than those at the front.
