Another sign that we are on the cusp of spring – dog-rose buds. The countryside is coming alive with brown hawthorn hedgerows sprinkled with tight green buds, pendulous catkins of various sizes, and sticky buds on the horse chestnut trees. Further developments will depend on the weather. A cold spell will result in the pause button being pressed, but a warm week will trigger Fast Forward!
