Day 2 of our weekend in Yorkshire, and today’s objective was to photograph a train crossing this railway viaduct. We had to leave the public footpath and cross a golf course fairway, and since none of us was wearing hard hats, we kept a wary eye open for golfers appearing over the hill behind us. Dangerous stuff, this photography business. Trains were due every 15 minutes, but when none had graced us with their presence after 45 minutes it was clear that Sunday track engineering works was conspiring against us. When a group of golfers appeared on the brow of the hill, clearly eying up the hole close to us, it was clear that we wouldn’t catch a train today, and we returned to the footpath. At least the dogs had enjoyed splashing around in a watery bunker, flooded after a night of heavy rain, and I'd a few lessons in perspective and composition.
