As we walked down the field track last weekend, there were dark clouds above, but above the western horizon the low late afternoon sun was shining form a clear sky, giving that wonderful crystal clear vivid light that lit the landscape beneath the dark clouds, causing it to almost glow. We headed into the “cows field”, since the cows had obligingly tucked themselves away in a far corner, and the green open space accentuated the effect of the light on the trees and hedgerows. The clouds above stopped holding back, and delivered a gentle shower, and from the open field we could see either ends of a double rainbow, arching across the sky against the dark clouds to the east. The dogs happily gambled and ran around (and helped themselves to an occasional snack – most dog owners will understand what ground based treat they helped themselves too in this field of bovines, when I wasn’t looking…) while I took dozens of photographs. From where we were standing, I could see some of the landscape through the colours, but chose this contrast of man and nature.
