City Road by shepherdman

City Road

My last London shot, before reverting to muddy Leicestershire images again. We spotted these when we missed a turning on the way to the tube station on London’s City Road. I pointed out that “City Road” was clearly the City Road of Pop Goes The Weasel – “Up and down the City Road, in and out of the Eagle” etc. Surprisingly @shepherdmanswife was unaware of the rhyme, and the subject was dropped, and there was no enthusiasm to seek out The Eagle public House.
Wonderful capture!

I don't know that part of the rhyme... I guess I'd better study up!
Love the bright colors of this. I especially love the saying underneath them.

lol - that's a nice capture of that wall, I got that shot a couple of weeks back - and it's where the bridge has been changed around the stations and new buildings in Shoreditch - the new overground station of Shoreditch High Street is really close to there. The Eagle pub is in a side street a bit of a way from there. The pub is nearer the tube station at Old Street than anywhere else close. And I've just worked out when I got caught with a Zone 1 fare - it was going through Shoreditch station on Monday on the Overground from Whitechapel to Highbury and Islington. Everything else is Zone 2.
