Brickwork by shepherdman

Brickwork

The perimeter wall of Abbey Park in Leicester, probably built 100 years or so ago. I love the warm colour of old bricks. You can, of course, by modern bricks of a nice warm orange or red, but they are too symmetrical, too uniform – I much prefer these rough made bricks of slightly varying dimensions. I once built a garden wall using bricks from a ruined old barn that belonged to a farming friend. The colours added warmth to the modern garden, and even better the uneven sizes hid my poor bricklaying technique.
Such great texture and variety in an old wall like this. Built to stand for a 1000 years.

Great pov - love the varying sizes - would've been tricky to keep the lines straight.
