This is the seed head of one of the reeds around our garden pond. The pond has been a bit poorly this season, the water level tending to drop unexpectedly, and we don’t think it’s the weather. The dogs have been known to enjoy a cooling dip, but not recently – it’s not the sort of thing that they do discretely, and so we would know. I suggested to @shepherdmanswife that we might need a new pond liner. Typically she suggested that this would be an opportunity for a complete pond makeover.
