The harvest around here started last week, with the field opposite our home being the first to be visited by the Combine Harvester, and we came home from work to find that the standing wheat had been replaced neat lines of mown straw. The straw in this field was baled and stacked, and has now been taken off of the field, leaving stubble. The field in the photo is on one of our dog walks, where the straw has been lying for a few days, and as I type it is being thoroughly soaked by heavy rain, which will no doubt delay the harvest by a few days. I love to see the changing seasons as I am "out and about", and enjoy writing about it. See www.seasonalstrolls.co.uk for more!
