We spent a day exploring Vancouver, well at least some of it. We crossed the “reassuringly wobbly” and long Capilano suspension foot-bridge to walk around the suspended walkways among the tree tops on the far side, and then the boardwalk hung precariously from the cliff at the side of the gorge. We visited the market on Granville Island, where, as a “cheeseophile” I sought out some Canadian cheeses and found a suitably ripe Quebec specimen. No doubt I will be trying samples from elsewhere in Canada during our trip. Any recommendations?
After a boat trip we decided to dine at English Bay Beach, and so I negotiated my way through the Vancouver traffic to find a parking spot in the area. My attempts at driving on Canadian roads are going as well as can be expected. With the assistance of our Canadian friend as co-pilot, I get only the occasional squeak from @shpherdmanswife. Once parked, @shepherdmanswife was off, running down the hill to catch the sunset over the bay, sweeping tourists aside and impaling young children and small dogs on her tripod racing the sun as it sank slowly in the west. We joined her a few minutes later to watch the gradual development of the most amazing sunset that we have ever seen. It started dramatically enough, and then continued to evolve into the most surreal colours, from pinks, to absolute gold reflected in the calm waters of the harbour, and eventually to deep red, the wispy clouds glowing in the final display of the evening. Totally magical. Or, as they say over here, “AWSOME!”
Nice silhouettes.
