A hard frost this morning; -4C (or whatever that works out as in F) when I took the dogs out. I know I know – for some of you that is positively balmy, a temperature at which you would considering taking the cover off of the outdoor pool. But to look out over the countryside you wouldn’t have known that there had been a hard frost, not even a touch of frost to be seen – merely a hint of frost. The ground was sold, and the stubble was white in the hollows by the river, but as far as the vegetation was concerned there was barely a glisten, just a slight fuzziness at the leaf tips. I can’t remember when we had a really good hoar frost, with boughs looking as though they are bearing snow, and hedgerows white as if sprinkled with icing sugar. I like hoar-frost mornings. You don’t have to look for photo-opportunities – they leap out and mug you around every corner.
Nice not to have the winds with the cold makes all the difference in the world. 28C here for a high and I am planning to get out for photos. Got to make sure my Dunkin Donuts card is charged so I can get coffee.
I cant imagine such cold, at the moment its high summer in SA with temps between 28 - 40 degrees C. Where I stay winter temps seldom go below 10 degrees C
