A day of dramatic skies, starting with another dramatic fiery dawn (at this time of the year we are much more likely to see the dawn which coincides with the morning dog walk), which in due Shepherds warning style led to a grey and damp morning, but the skies cleared, the sun broke through and these cirrus cloud heralded a glorious evening. The last couple of days have been relatively mild, spoiled only by a brisk breeze, a dog walks, albeit still squelchy, have been a pleasure. However Forecasters have warned that winter is not over even in the benign English Midlands. There is still time for frost and snow, which had never really left some parts of the UK.
With 4 feet of snow in my yard I don't need forecasters to tell me winter isn't over, though they persist in doing just that. Going to get to a balmy 28F today. So sitting with my tea and enjoying your beautiful sky.
I love these types of clouds. I think those are called Mares Tales and I recently read where they indicate cold weather coming. Not sure, to be honest.
