Our short walk in the Derbyshire Peak District (or strictly speaking the Derbyshire Dales, since I had chosen an “Easy” walk in the interests of elderly pooch Lesia , not to mention @shepherdmanswife) a couple of weeks ago was just 2 miles. My daily dog walks at home with younger Tia are generally 3-4 miles, and I estimated 2 miles would take 30-45 minutes, but I allowed over an hour so we could take it easy. The walk took almost 2 hours, thanks to stops for photographs and to enjoy the view. We “snappy photographers” (as @shepherdmanswife refers to my style) forget how long it takes a serious photographer to compose a shot and to take several versions for future perusal. I should have learned from Lesia who nowadays goes on shorter (distance-wise) walks with @shepherdmanswife while Tia and I stride off across the countryside. As soon as @shepherdmanswife opened her camera case, Lesia gave a sigh and sat down patiently, and as soon as the camera went back into its case, Lesia went to @shepherdmanswife for an expected dog-treat for being patient. This is their walking/photography routine. I admit that by the time we got to this path leading out of the woods I was just a tad impatient. I wasn’t sure when the local pub stopped serving food……
