Browsing bumblebees

The allium flowers in our garden have opened and are very popular with bumble bees and hover flies. I got a couple of shots of a bee feeding with a hover fly hovering a few millimeters away – either the bee was in focus, or the hover fly. Never both. And then the hover fly disappeared to hover over a different flower. Bumble bees are much easier to photograph, contently browsing the nectar and gathering pollen, making sure that the flower is depleted before moving on to the next blossom.
Wonderful macro shot. FAV. I grew up with German shepards and I still consider them the ultimate "real" dog, though I've become attached to a variety of labs and mixed breeds. The pup in your i.d. photo is simply too beautiful for words!

Nice to see there is enough pollen to share between both of these well focused bees!

I'm staggered by the DoF you have achieved at f/8 and 128mm - a Fav for your expertise.

The bees look like two eyes mounted on the top of the deep pink head! Great capture.
