An interesting weekend on a 1922 no-frills Thames Barge, sailing along the Blackwater Estuary, Essex. On Saturday we tacked up to the mouth of the estuary and rode the tide back towards Maldon, and then did it all over again on Sunday. The river banks were far away for much of the time, and so we watched the view of grey water passing under grey skies as we consumed large quantities of tea. It was a distinctly chilling out weekend, especially on deck in the easterly wind.
