The clocks have gone back, evening darkness arrives earlier, and I’m cycling most of the way home with lights. And so here is a hark-back to summer, which will at least cheer me up, if no-one else! A deserted golden Northumberland beach in May, when light evenings were the rule and there was the promise of summer. These times will be back. Honestly. OK Antipodeans – you are allowed to be smug.
