As ragged storm clouds cleared after yet another rainy day Tia and I went out to survey the local fieled footpaths. Earlier the “Huncote Hash” had taken place; an annual cross country run had taken place around the local fields and up Croft Hill, an event that usually attracts over 100 runners. The trouble with this event is that the runners enjoy the run for a couple of hours, and subsequently, since the run always takes place at this time of the year, dog walkers have to suffer a couple of months of churned up muddy footpaths. Thanks to the poor condition the number of runners was considerably fewer than on previous years, but nevertheless the footpaths and field tracks were a quagmire by the time the run was over.
