Coral(ish) by shepherdman

Coral(ish)

I haven’t a clue what this fungus is, growing on the side of a tree trunk felled last year, which hasn’t started to rot yet. It reminds me of the corals that we saw while snorkelling on, or rather over, the Great Barrier Reef several years ago. There is a “coral fungus” that grows on dead trees, but I don’t think that this is it. Pretty though, in a sort of grungy way.
Fabulous texture, colours, focus and dof. FAV.

Who would think fungus could be so pretty - loving the frills.

It does look like coral but would be a very different feel! Focus and light on the curves is so good!

I think it is very beautiful. Nature is very clever to design something like this with such intricate frills. Great capture and detail

I love that texture in the background, makes a lovely contrast to the sharply detailed fungus texture.
