Remembering

Members of Croft Silver Band playing at todays village Remembrance Service. As always Tia and I walked down to join about 300 or other people from the villages of Croft, Huncote and Thurlaston for the outdoor service. As always, as the names of those who died are read out, I am moved not only by the number of men and boys lost from each small village, but also by the number of families that lost two sons/fathers, particularly in WW1.
So hard to comprehend the loss for families.

Always a memorable occasion but particularly so this year.

It's been heartening to see so many young people and children involved in events taking place, ensuring that those who didn't come home aren't forgotten. Your village must be very proud of their lost men.

When will we ever learn?

I like the contrast of the purple hair with the solemn occasion.

We should all be moved by those same things - death in service of God and country and loss of family and friends due to war.
