During our beach walks wooden groynes stretched down to the sea, often partially buried by sand. Sometimes we had to walk to the top of the beach, where the groynes were lower, to cross them. Sometimes Sam didnt spot that we had done this, ran after us and peered over the top with a "how did you get over there?" expression.
