Though this project has definitely made me more aware of the abundance of photo opps in my surroundings, occasionally it also makes me aware of certain limitations. Despite living in one of the most Asian cities outside of Asia, my apartment and office are in a decidedly non-Asian part of LA. I wanted to do something today to mark the Year of the Rabbit, but I'd have to drive pretty far for a weekday to find anything authentic. At times like this I miss hopping on the train in NYC and arriving in Chinatown in a matter of minutes. But I saw a picture at the mall of where I REALLY want to be today -- back in Taiwan with food and family. Alas, I'll settle for a photo memory. 新年快樂!
新年快樂! I wanted to cook a New Year's feast but I think that might have to wait till later (not till the NEXT Year of the Rabbit, I hope); looking at this picture will do for now.
