Bedford Corn Exchange by sianharrison

Bedford Corn Exchange

Interesting information about WW2 can be read at the top and bottom but I liked the lettering against the brickwork.

Glenn Miller was based near Bedford. The Corn Exchange was opened in 1874 and was originally designed to be a concert venue and meeting space, as well as a place of business.

The BBC Symphony Orchestra were housed in the Corn Exchange during World War Two, when it became too dangerous for them to be based in London. The venue played host to many star names during the war, including Glenn Miller, Bing Crosby, Marlene Dietrich and Vera Lynn.
Yes the lettering certainly make a statement , proud and clear ,
