Brr. it was very cold this morning, the windows in our porch had patterns made by Jack frost. The geraniums are still flowering in spite of the freezing weather.
For Jane: Once upon a time in a faraway land of permanent ice and snow, known as oop North, lived a mischievous being called Jack the Frost.. Although quite happy where he lived, for a bit of fun from time to time he liked to fly down South and meet up with his cousin Jack the Lad. Together they would spend a few weeks roaming Europe, putting the fear of God up train companies, closing schools, bursting pipes, making girls teeth chatter etc. and generally being a real nuisance to these southern pansies. One of Jacks favourite tricks was to sweep around a house at night and freeze all the window panes up so that next morning the pansies couldn't see out.
One night he was busy doing this when he spied through the glass, not a pansy, but a beautiful red geranium. He was so taken with her he kept coming back making patterns on the glass for her to admire, and was determined to get closer. Pelar Gonium (for that was her name) was so fascinated by Jack she was rooted to the spot and that evening she felt his icy breath on her petals. As her resistance weakened and Jack hugged her ever closer, he could hear faintly the strains of Clarence Frogman Henry singing 'You always hurt the one you love . . .
Oh Diana! Pelar Gonium....lol brilliant! Hope i can muscle in on your lovely story. I feel like I'm sitting beside your log fire with Snowy while you tell us all a story! :-) and by the way, the photo is gorgeous, the colour contrasts and the frosty back ground. Do tag it for the up close theme. Ps I've met quite a few Jack the Lads in my time....hehhe!
Great photo and great Jack Frost story! You don't fancy coming over and doing a few chapters for me, do you? You could write my book while I do my christmas shopping....
