Whilst out on a drive round the country lanes we came across St. Marys Church at Middleton on hill. The earliest part of the church..circa 1100.

I love these wooden trussed roofs & often they are the best bit of the church !!! Amazing how all the bits fit in like a jigsaw! My favourite book is 'Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett & that describes the building of Cathedrals with the most basic of tools ...fascinating !!! Not that this is a cathedral but it just reminded me !!!!

It is quite fascinating. When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought I was looking inside a covered bridge.
