Who Am I?

I was walking home from getting my hair cut when this chap swooped down and landed in the street near my house. He's quite a big fellow, and I wasn't quite sure just what sort of bird he is. Anyone know?

Hard to tell how big it is , but it looks like a sparrow hawk.

I thought some sort of hawk just by the way he swooped! He's about twice the size of a mourning dove, I reckon.

@spanishliz might be too big for a sparrow hawk then. Colouring & front plumage looks the same though.

@spanishliz @carole_sandford sparrowhawk not found in North America ( unless escapee from captivity I guess?!) Could be an American kestrel, but doesn't look like pics on internet

Definitely a hawk. amazing he pose for you. mostly you find them in a tree.fav.
