Old Hickory and his troops caught up with the British at New Orleans on 8 January 1815, none of them knowing that the War of 1812 was already over. Still a state holiday in Louisiana, apparently.
Photo is of a 78 rpm record that I found in a local junk shop to replace the 45 I had as a kid. I still know all the words, as can be confirmed by anyone who was at my sister's Christmas party :)
Today is also Argyle Day, but I don't have any argyle socks to photograph...
