Paradise

Weather was stunning so went north to the beach. I took lots of photos and had a lot of misses with the lens. The kids spent hours bodyboarding. I was going to post this in b/w but thought I would let you see the summer light (if you are in the north that is). Another sooc effort.
Cool action capture, love the happy splash!

Sem
you starting to get the hang of the lensbaby I see, cool capture.
I for one, have just about had enough of summer sun, which is not good because from now on in, it just gets hotter!

@semjaja our summer is just starting. Not great so far but hopefully it will improve. There were a lot of failed efforts before during and after this shot.

@angelat thanks Angela. There are some videos on YouTube which can explain the lensbaby idea.

That looks like fun! You are definitely getting to grips with the lensbaby. Wishing you a healthy and happy new year and many thanks for your kind comments on my project.

Great capture of a huge cheesy grin! Love the frozen froth of the water. You're not perchance having fun with this lens are you?!

The selective focus is cool. I read up about the LensBaby after seeing you had one, the other day and have talked myself into buying a tilt-shift lens in a couple of weeks! Thanks, Spanner! ;-)

@paulaw Thanks Paula. Best wishes to you and your family for the new year. Thank you for your continued encouragement.

@quixoticneophyte Thanks Alexander. Glad you like it and yes I am having lots of fun with this lens.
As for a tilt-shift....Wow, is that not thousands of dollars? Good on you, I know you will make it a worthwhile investment. I look forward to seeing what you produce.
Thank you for your continued support of my project. I am very flattered I made the cut. Have a great 2014.

@spanner Yep, she's a big outlay! Somehow, I suspect there's going to be an equally steep learning curve too! For the architecture and landscape, it will be well worth it, in the long run. I suspect that eventually, I may end up using medium or large format film and those amazing bellows that twist every which way, for the ultimate perspective control. Damn this OCD! ;-)

I have long enjoyed your journey and your honesty and unpretentious ways here. I am so glad you are feeling inspired and exploring again. You're not alone representing the long white cloud on my follow list, Dexter's there too!

@quixoticneophyte check this guy out Vincent Laforet - he is amazing. You are probably already aware of him. The digitalrev cheap camera challenge that he does is really interesting and convinced me to get the lensbaby after many weeks of consideration.
Dexter is a natural photographer. If he starts to work with more purpose he will be exceptional. He is also a really nice chap.

@spanner Thanks for the name, I had seen some of his works around various sites and had no idea who it was behind them. The digitalrev video was great, he's like me with the waiting for a good capture. For me it's normally waiting for light or weather though.

Dexter has an innate ability for street candids that are already exemplary, given focus and purpose, he'll be amazing to watch as he progresses! He comes across as very earnest!

Looks like paradise indeed - at least from here ! Great use of selective focus, nice to see you master the learning curve !

@rachelwithey thanks Rachel and you are welcome. Hope Britain is not too grim.

@channelf thank you. It has taken lots of attempts to get the focus right. Still having a lot of misses but enjoying it all the same.
