Hi , thanks for the comment on my vintage Helios lenses, I have the 44-2, 44m and 44m-4 , they all produce great results. One had a stiff focus ring , but they were all bargains, £5, £10, some were free ... rescued from our camera clubs junk cupboard. The 44-2 is renowned for doing great portraits and the 44m-4 renowned for being pin sharp. They are superb prime lenses and hold their own against modern auto focus primes, which is pretty incredible for some lenses that are 40+years old. I haven't encountered any flare issues, but then again I am always careful with lighting for my shots. Some people say they lacked quality on the production line and you can get dodgy one's, but my experience doesn't bare that out. I can recommend an Industar И-61 which started life on Fed-4 rangefinder cameras (Russain leica clones), they are superb , tiny powerhouses. I haven't shot any of my vintage lenses with film (yet) !!!!
I have a whole album of vintage lens photos on flickr if you are interested.... https://www.flickr.com/photos/phil_howcroft/albums/72157703158326115
