The wolf is the mascotte of San Giovanni Lupatoto, a town near Verona.
In fact the word lupa (or lupo) means wolf.
There are many stories about the origin of the name but probably nobody knows the truth.
This statue is in the middle of a roundabout at the entrance of the town.
