@jacqbb iftar is the break of the fast at sunset. Funny how supermarkets here are pretty much empty before sunset.

@stefanotrezzi Thanks for the explanation. I thought of something else, are the women also going to the mosque or are they staying totally out of sight?

@jacqbb they are, though with separate entrances. The iftar dinner instead is a mixed gender event, in restaurant tents for the emirates and wealthier families, or at home for everyone else.

Great post for this fasting time. I do feel for those fasting when it occurs when the days are long - I think I am right in saying that it changes time in the year - apologies if I have misquoted and got it wrong.

@mandygravil thanks. And that is correct, Ramadan is a lunar month, and it changes every year. Used to be August when I moved here 3 years ago.
