Yesterday I managed a few hours with Alexis before she goes off on a little holiday with her mum, brother and step-dad to be.
So I took her to the Dunstable Downs where we went on the Easter Egg Trail. A little walk over the field to the woods nearby, through the trees and over this hill overlooking the Downs and the Chilterns, before heading back to the shop to hand in our trail sheets where she got to pick out her prize of an easter egg.
Her pink coat has been the subject of many of her portraits and it seemed obvious to make it stand out over the hills. It was a great day but odd weather wise. It was blasting with the sun as you can see, but if you look closely you can spot snow coming down.
She stood here for a little while looking out in a daydream. I wonder what she was thinking....!
I love her.
This is a loely shot of Alexis, always in the striking pink ( which suits her very well). I think children are soemtimes just overwhellmed by the magnitude of the world that is around them. The shot shows alot how you feel about her and that you are willing to let her "go" into this big world outthere but she can always return back.Take care of her.
@khirsch Karin, Ive re-read your comment and it means a lot. I hope I can always do my best for her...hopefully part of her journey can be played out on here, when the moments are right! :)
@nicolecampbell@nicolecampbell I got lucky here...I just took all the colour sliders out in Camer Raw except for the red and this was what was left, rather than my normal method of creating a black and white layer on top of a colour layer in Photoshop and just erasing the particular parts with the Erase tool. Then a slight vignetting and it wad done. Might end up on a wall somewhere soon at home :)
