Day 101, Year 2 - The Long Wait At Sutton

Last Friday I did a little live TV job in Sutton on the outskirts of London. I snapped this as I got off the train at Sutton before heading out into the street. The shadow of the man, his pose and the rest of the station architecture, meant of all the shots I took with my camera on the way to Sutton, this 'one-last-quick-shot-on-my-iPhone-then-i'm-done' shot wins for the day.
Looks like he is deep in contemplation. Looks like a quiet time of day, which I imagine would be unusual for what I remember of London railway stations!

Mmm. I really like it. Really nice composition with all the lines and the diagonal light/shade divide. Very nice.

Excellent capture. I like the strong demarcation between light and shadow.

The best photos are sometimes taken on the spur of the moment.....this tells a story...wonder who he is going home to...he looks like a man who lives on his own to me with those plastic shopping bags.

I love the light in this shot...and the retro look you gave to it. I am a big fan of signs ..so the Sutton one is a plus. Well done, Steve!

Yes, I see why you love it. Just wonderful.

@tomtom It was quiet at Sutton but there was actually a large group of people just down the platform. I think that makes him more interesting because he was intentionally keeping away from them. I look at people like him and can't help but wonder what his story is...!

@happypat I totally agree. I like to think he just looks like that and has a little crowd at home. And if he doesn't, that he doesn't mind and that he's happy. But I can't help but think there is something slightly lonely looking about him. He was very gently wandering back and forth pondering something. Makes you wonder about these people that we see in these little moments where we take notice of them, and what their story is...!

I do love stations for people watching. My daughter lived in Sutton for 6 months, moved last month nearer Wimbledon, can't remember the town.

@debbie3108 That's because it's not worth remembering :)
Stations and airports for me are the best places. It's one good thing about having to wait for your departure. You can just sit and watch people and wonder about who they are and what they do...!
