This is the result of a drive out in the car taking some shots of the lovely evening in Norfolk. I'm still missing something as I am nowhere near getting what I want.
Looking back on this a few weeks later I realise that my love for high colour and contrast gets in the way sometimes of reproducing the scene I have in front of me. This is a bit too over-cranked I think and I am not sure what I was thinking with the foreground. I wasn't sure whether to brighten up the shadow areas or leave them a bit dark, which is how the sensor resolved the scene given the brightness of the sky.
I think a hard grad ND filter might have helped but I don't own one at the moment.
3 good things:
1 - Great run round the village much earlier in the day than I would normally go
2 - A slice of the neighbours birthday cake for tea
3 - Despite my comments above about this I really enjoyed my 90 minutes out in the car stopping a couple of times to grab a shot for the day
Always enjoy your shots and very interested to read your commentary. Yes, high colour and contrast does seem to be your unique signature. Sounds like you're setting yourself a get pushed challenge to go for natural tones!
I was immediately drawn to this shot and found your comments very interesting. I agree that it feels a bit "overcranked" but beautiful nonetheless. Lovely to see all the water and reflections.
