Day 020, Year 4 - Sunset, Stroll And A Snap In Abu Dhabi
Best viewed large, on black if you have time! :)
Thank you for all your very lovely comments, and FAV's over the last few days. It really helps to spur me on to go out and take more pictures and try and create something worth looking at!
A quick shot this evening just after sunset here in Abu Dhabi on my way to the local supermarket for a bite to eat.
I am enjoying editing my photos at the moment and trying my hardest to get a greater dynamic range out of one single RAW file. I am happy with this because I underexposed the shot to make sure the sky didn't blow out, and I also used my Lee BigStopper filter to get the silky water in the bottom left of frame. It meant I needed to get quite a bit out of the bottom third of the frame to bring it back up, so using paintbrushes and pushing the Shadows slider in CameraRaw helped to bring it up to something looking nice.
3 good things:
1 - Very nice lunch on site at work today
2 - Good technical check ahead of the Abu Dhabi golf tournament starting tomorrow
3 - Excellent weather today in the Emirates
This is a gorgeous long exposure Steve. The colours are wonderful too. How long are you working out there for? Fancy a bit of snow? Sorry you missed it as it only lasted a day so now back to muddy dog walking again!
@shepherdmanswife I am out for 3 weeks, the first in Abu Dhabi then Doha, then Dubai. I am working covering the golf tournaments here as part of the European Tour (which always starts in the heat of the Middle East) because as you know, it's cld back home :)
And I am ok about missing the snow...it looks lovely but I much prefer heat!
I do like the central composition - 'Dubai' on the left a striking contrast with the 'European' lights on the right. This whole series create a great portfolio of your work.Do you also use an overlay blend layer of black & white paint (dodge & burn)?
@ltodd I know what you are referring to but I don;t tend to use layers in that way. I sometimes dodge and burn a little but try to do most of my processing in CameraRaw. But the paintbrushes I use are effectively lightening, or darkening certain areas so the same as D&B. :)
