Apologies to those who may be slightly offended by this; I hope not, given she's only 7.
I took some snaps of her at the table this afternoon while she was doing some colouring in, and also while she had FaceTime with her mum and little brother. This was one of the first shots I took and pretty much sums up how she sometimes feels when I have my camera around.
It may not be the most angelic pose, and there are times when I wish I could capture her in ways that others do with their children, but...I don't live with her so the chances to get a photo are rare, and this is actually the real Alexis, her cheeky and rapidly-maturing personality shining through the frame.
I also quite like the exposure with the soft light on her face reflecting from the things on the table in front of her, and the light on her hair from the late afternoon sun coming in from the right of frame. So this one wins out over the others for today.
3 good things:
1 - Getting a hat and wig bought for a stag do this coming weekend
2 - Dinner this evening at a local restaurant with her and my folks
3 - Cuddles with Alexis after dinner and at bedtime
I think this an absolutely wonderful shot. Technically,it's perfect but more importantly, it captures a budding personality. Both of you will treasure this in the years to come.
@maryswartz Thank you Mary.
I tried tweaking others, to try and match the exposure etc and 'colour' balance, but I really like this.
It's unmistakably her. :)
I love it! It made me giggle! It is such a real life photo. I can't tell you how many times a day I catch one of my kindergarteners with their finger in their nose. It looks like you are having a marvelous time with Alexis.
Well I think when they're older it's the 'odder' shots that make you smile the most. Ours were little in the pre-digital era so we don't have many but I really like the ones with a wobbly lip or whatever.
