Day 065, Year 4 - The Sun Shines At St James' Park
Taken from my camera position along the 18-yard left line last Saturday afternoon, not long before the football match between Newcastle and Bournemouth. For the first time in days, the sun actually came out and sent a little warmth round the ground. But not for long. It then got cold again...but it was a great game and Bournemouth won 3-1.
TV coverage was excellent of course, especially form the 18-yard left line camera ;)
3 good things:
1 - Great fun day at work and a very enjoyable time on camera
2 - Smooth derig of the gear after the game
3 - Drinks in the hotel that evening with colleagues
Sounds like a good day for you and a great capture to remember it by. The stadium is spectacular and right in the city centre. Wrong result for my son...a lifetime supporter of the Toon Army.
@jackie8 It's the Fuji 10-22m lens. Lovely lens, and is great for these shots. I have taken quite a few very wide shots, with a lot of headroom, which makes it easy to straighten out the verticles to make buildings nice and straight such as this one: http://365project.org/stevecameras/365/2016-02-01
The original had a lot more space above the buildings, and the perspective was quite steep so the buildings were leaning into each other, towards the middle. But as the width is so big, you can leave room to correct it later if you want nice straight verticle lines. :)
May I ask why you switched to the X-T1?
I must admit I am always pining after my old Canon 7D and would love to go full-frame.
@helenhall Thank you!
And oh dear, hope your son is getting over it. Not looking good for the Toon Army, or my folks supporting Norwich City!!
Oh well...luckily I am quite neutral over it all :)
