This is the lineout sculpture outside Twickenham Stadium in west London. I was working there last Sunday as part of the NFL American Football match between the New York Giants and the LA Rams. I managed to get to the stadium a little early which gave me a chance to grab a quick photo of this before heading inside to start work.
3 good things:
1 - Lovely start to the day with clear skies and sun
2 - Great day working at Twickenham during the NFL game
3 - Finally getting into bed that evening after two long days and very little sleep
What do you think is the reaction of Brits to the American NFL? Personally, as an Australian who has lived in the USA for 40 years, it would seem like a big yawn for those accustomed to either brand of Rugby.
@frankhymus The Brits love it. At least the ones who turn up do. It's getting very popular here now. Some of the teams have considered Wembley Stadium in London as a permanent home. The 8 hour flight to London isn't too different from the flights in the US so it doesn't seem like such a crazy idea. Not sure it'll take over Rugby but at least it's got it's fans.
@stevecameras Thanks for your assessment. I've been hearing from players who suggest that away games, a 5- 8 hour flight would be a big disadvantage for a London team, but charter a business only jet, it surely can't be that bad. As you point out.
I am indeed a fan of the NFL, don't get me wrong, but understanding how Rugby fans in my home country belittle the American game, I wasn't sure if there was a fan base. And from the East Coast of the USA, it's really less than 8 hours, so surely players could handle that.

Thanks for you thoughts...
